New WSYSA Disciplinary Ruling
Effective September 1, 2007 the new 605 Disciplinary Rule will go into effect. One of the major changes is the new provisions for players, coaches or team officials who have been sent off (received a red card) now have mandatory game sit outs. Any sendoff or second caution issued in a match, to a player, coach or team official makes that person ineligible to participate in their next regularly scheduled match(s) as outlined under WSYSA Rule 605. WSYSA Disciplinary Committees will no longer be holding “Soccer Court” on Thursday night.
To find out more about this rule please visit the WSYSA website by clicking here.
PDL Initiates Pilot Club Player Pass Program
(September 10, 2007) Todd Lincoln, PDL Director, announces the The Club Player Pass, "as a unique feature to the Player Development League. It focuses on the development cycle of the individual player, allowing for shifts in level of play that match the player’s progress. Ultimately this is most fair for the player, who gets more opportunities to play at the correct level, and not be forced into higher, or lower, level competition without due consideration."
Players may be moved between teams on a club to maximize their potential through play. Players are still rostered to their original team, but are given opportunities for a beneficial experience at other levels of play.
The Club Player Pass is not to be used to bolster the competitive level of multiple teams within a club by sharing the higher achieving players between teams.

Council proceeds with sports field project
Thanks to NYSA and community support!
(Monday June 11, 2007) The topic of the June 4 public hearing was whether to call for a public vote on a $6,588,000 city ball field project, whose final cost is not yet firm. The project entails reconfiguring the current field layout; replacing the grass with synthetic turf; adding lights, new scoreboards, baseball dugouts, landscaping, public art, a new entry feature, a basketball court, playground and walking loop.
Twenty-eight speakers testified during the hearing. Five were Parks and Recreation Commissioners; several were coaches; one, a soccer league official; two, affiliated with organizations working to help secure funding for the endeavor. Some were parents of children who use or used the fields, some lived within the City of Woodinville, some did not. Four spoke in favor of a public advisory vote on the project; 24 opposed such a vote. In the end, council voted 4-3 to proceed with the sports field project as planned (without a public advisory vote). Gov. Chris Gregoire Signs New Law For Youth Referees
OLYMPIA – For years, youth soccer clubs in Washington have hired young referees – some as young as 10 – to officiate at games. The problem? It’s illegal. In general, Washington’s child labor laws make it a misdemeanor for anyone to hire a child under 14. The child’s parents can also be charged. There are a few exemptions, including farm work, acting and housework. But there’s no exemption for youth soccer officials. That changed Monday, when Gov. Chris Gregoire signed a new law allowing the hundreds of young youth soccer refs to continue working – and to get paid legally.
