From Janie’s dad, Tom: Janie started playing soccer at Northshore Youth Soccer Association when she was in kindergarten. She continued
to play on NYSA recreational teams until she was eleven, when she moved to the NSC Ultimatum, where she played for two years. At the end of her second season with the Ultimatum (they were playing in the Fall then), she still wanted to play more soccer, so she went on to play with FC Alliance G95 White Team, being a guest player in the State Cup tournament. This is her third season with the FCA G95 Gold Team. Janie also plays for Inglemoor High School.
From Girls Teams Coaching Director Hultin: The first time I saw Janie it was at tryouts, and I noticed a few things. One was work ethic: she had an incredible work ethic; the other was speed; she was so fast; and three was her passion for the game. You could see it in her face, see it in her work ethic, see it in her whole body -- it was awesome.
When I took Janie on her first year she really developed. She became a very good player. Then Janie was faced with a devastating loss -- she lost her mother. At that point in time she had a choice to leave soccer or make it a bigger part of her life – and, boy, did she! Janie is so passionate about the sport. She makes her mother proud every day, I know it.
Janie has taken true ownership of her abilities and she is always working: when she is not on the training field with me, she’s training on her own: running, practicing with other coaches. She’s an incredible worker, always has a smile on her face, is a great leader, and an incredible athlete. I couldn’t be prouder of the player she has become. It is such a special thing to work with such a special athlete and person, and I can’t wait to see her develop into a great soccer player and an incredible young woman. Congratulations Janie, I am very proud of you.
Janie says, “I would like to thank my many coaches: M’ily Reiter; Jeff Renkert; Jeremy Bowdish; Curt Renfrow; Jeff Adams and especially Katie Hultin; as well my wonderful team mates and their parents who have offered their support and friendship both on the field and in my personal life.”
